Dragon’s Boy

The Dragon’s Boy by Jane Yolen (e-book edition)9781480423343_p0_v1_s260x420

This is the story of Arto and his lonely life in a small castle owned by Sir Ector. Arto’s is the smallest of the boys and is teased and often forgotten by the others learning to be knights.

It is Arto’s brave heart, keen mind and gentle soul that leads him to be friend a dragon. In this relationship Arto learns about places far and wide, stories to enchant others, and most of all to listen, learn and think carefully. He also learns what it means to have a family something he thinks he is without.

This small story takes its roots from the Arthurian legend. It would be a great place to start with young readers before leaping into the full story of King Arthur. This book was started years ago by Jane Yolan and she has returned to make it a small but full novel.

The e-book edition includes how this book got started, a short history of Yolan and a few images of the author.  It is a fun read on a cold winters night.  Curl up with a young one and begin the journey in the land of knights and dragons.
