Day two: Watching the little things

I stand at the kitchen sink as the day is slipping away and the evening sky is that mix of grey blue as the dark descends on us. Slowing at the edge of the neighbors roof a light begins to appear and within minutes there hanging in the sky is a full and golden moon. The world around us turns to blue and I am caught in a moment of grace and awe at the world we live in.

There are so many days that I hurry about doing task after task. Tonight I was getting dinner ready, fretting over a recipe gone awry, doing dishes and just muttering to myself when this gift of a moon settled into view.  The dinner mess did not matter any more nor did the dishes. It was time to just stop and watch the beauty of the world around me.

It is the little things that give me pause and helps me to breath deep and slowly. That moon has risen year after year but tonight it feels new, fresh and seems to hold the promise of a new beginning.  Blue and Moon.JPG

Breathtaking photo and an exquisite description. I saw the moon last night too! Love these words from your post: “I am caught in a moment of grace and awe at the world we live in.” A perfect slice!

I seem to do a lot of reflection at the kitchen sink as well. There is something about that quiet time that doesn’t require too much thought that allows for a pause in my hectic day. Thank you for reminding to take some time to enjoy the simple things in life.
