Sorry this is a no post post –

Slice of Life logo

Life or the end of life takes us by surprise sometimes! I am traveling to visit an Uncle who has found himself suddenly at the end of life moments. Then driving further on to my Mother who has been slowly declining in health over the last two years. ( She is 94 and he is 87).

They have lead wonderful lives, have been powerful people for me to learn from and with so I am struggling for words.  There are words but for now no words that I can express tonight.

Hours of travel

Moments of shared love and concern

Now late night quiet in a hotel room

Sometimes the words that flow through us in the late night quiet are only for us – for our hearts, our minds, our dreams, our memories. Let the words flow through you and give you strength, and peace during this time of unknowns, waiting, and hurt. Sounds like you have much to embrace and celebrate as well – what longevity runs in your family!! Sending wishes for comfort and safe travels your way!

Your post is a honest and lovely reflection of both the sentiments of your moments and the exhaustion and enormity of spending time with loved ones whose health is failing. Good for you for taking the time to be with them when they need you most.

You called it a no post post – but it is more than that. It is coming to terms to the hard parts in life in your own way, in your own words. I hope you were able to get some rest so you can be their source if strength today.

This “no post post” speaks to the quiet whispers of our heart in the late night. I know you will look back on this day and be glad to know you spent time with your uncle and mom, a gift that truly matters.
